In rooftop design, one can come across obstacles or models which are repetitive in their appearance as well as symmetry.

Modeling them again and again costs much time but with the use of the Repeat and Mirror tool function, one can simply design them as given in this video.

Let us discuss in steps how to utilize these tools here,

REPEAT TOOL;

  • Mostly, on shed roofs, we can see the air vents are repetitive and it takes time to design all these on the shed. One can copy-paste and do the same for others but the dimension factor gets a challenge. consider the roof here with one air vent model,

In this roof, we can also see the vent is repeated and at the same distance. In order to model these efficiently, we make use of the REPEAT TOOL.

Copy-paste a single model and press "R" to get the repeat counts for modeling the rest of the obstacles of the same feature. To set the uniform distance one can make use of the "Tab" option for setting the desired dimension.

After placing the models, you can visualize them in 3D for a better picture.

MIRROR TOOL.

In this shed, we see that the other side of the shed is the exact symmetry of the design we just modeled. So, to perform the designing for these kinds of structures we use the Mirror tool.

Copy the sub-array designed and click 'M' for the mirror option. Click on the side where it needs to get mirrored and place the shed by hitting 'enter'.

NOTE;

If the designed model faces SW and the model needed to get designed is NE. Accordingly, design and set the azimuth as well.

Visualize the model in 3D for a better understanding of the roof structure designed.

Therefore, the designs are made simple using these repeat and mirror tools.
